Sarah and I had been looking for the right Toronto apartment for well over a year, and had been so discouraged that we had effectively given up. Good thing we gave it a last try, and that Trish was our agent. Trish understood our requirements, which were old-fashioned—solid walls, enough with the glass, with the condos that will be tomorrow’s ghettoes, and we like to walk and spend a good deal of time outside, please—and possibly unrealistically stringent. Trish understood, and was (not without a sense of humour) personable, unflappable, hard-working throughout—and within a few weeks, successful. Such was our confidence in Trish’s knowledge and eye, that effectively we bought the apartment “unseen,” though not before she had taken the care to bring in a specialty contractor to assess the work she thought we might have to do. (It also helped that Trish’s relationships in the realtor community are strong, and that our questions were swiftly answered). I never thought we’d say this of a real estate deal, but the whole adventure was immensely satisfying and also good fun. We so do not want to have to buy or sell in the Toronto market again but, if we had to, Trish is the person we would call.
